19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.
Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the US Open.
The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-time trainer Cervara.
Presently working with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the past month - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.
It is Medvedev's first championship since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court after March of 2023.
The win also signifies he has won 21 titles at twenty-one different events.
"It's the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to secure a trophy is really nice," commented ranked player Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his last six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.
The player's defensive strategy and recurring reactions on the playing surface had led observers to doubt if his skill to compete at the elite level was finished.
However the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.
He recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.
The pair swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial tour title, seized the initiative to push for a third set.
Moutet rescued 4 early-game break points in a tight third set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.
Suitably, he secured victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
